General improvements, plus some obvious ones: now click to add and remove metaballs (much better), and they’re much more visible because of some background changes I’ve made. Should be a little faster too, due to ongoing grid rendering improvements.
A bunch of optimizations, most notably using a grid rendering system, much faster now.

Finally, a more significant (if slightly late update). I think this dynamic works much better than the old one; I think the “shockwave” weapon forces players to be very close to exploding enemies, making them a little too hard to avoid. This new version is a lot more balanced, I think, and more fun to play (the difficulty curve isn’t quite as absurd either). In addition to adding the new weapon, I also did a wide variety of general speed and coding style improvements.
